Join Preparedness Day on February 7, 2027

Preparedness Day reminds us: Don’t let rumors guide you in a crisis.

Preparedness Day is clebrated on February 7, as the joint recommendation from authorities and organizations is that every household should be prepared for at least 72 hours. National preparedness guidelines can be found on the 72 hours website.

SPEK is organizing Preparedness Day 2027 in cooperation with the National Emergency Supply Agency, News Media Finland and the Finnish Library Association.

Theme for Preparedness Day 2027: Reliable information

  • Access to reliable information is especially important during disruptions so that people know how to act and are not misled by rumours or false information.
  • According to SPEK’s research, half of Finns do not have a battery-powered radio or a charged power bank, both of which are important ways of receiving reliable information during a disruption.
  • The goal is to help people understand the importance of reliable information in household preparedness and know how and where to find information during disruptions.

The national 72 hours preparedness recommendation provides reliable information on preparedness.
